Struggle about oil instead of war against “terror”?

Since some times, America critical voices suspecting that the planned U.S. war against Iraq is only because of the rich oil resources of Iraq.

Now, the first time, the media of the ruling class is talking about that issue.
For example, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the leading newspaper of the German Capital writes, that there are plans in the U.S. government to occupied Iraq and as the liberator to get the oil, Iraq has the second largest oil resources in the world, for special conditions.

Its an open secret that Washington wants to reduce his dependence from the oil of the Saudis. Because the U.S. not sure about the stability of the Saudi reactionary monarchy, they think, over short or long, itll be destroyed by radical Moslem groups. For that moment the U.S. government has the plan to occupy the parts where the main oil fields are located, or only to destroy them. A C.I.A. study says, that it would be easy to put them out off work for at least two years.

With the planned attack at the Iraq the U.S. not only following up the aim to kick out S. Hussein, its also about the future of the American energy supply. So the U.S. want only the full control over the Iraqi oil fields.

But after occupying the country it could be difficult for the U.S. stabilizing Iraq. Right now we can see this on the example of Afghanistan. The occupiers dont have the power to bring quietness and peace for that country. And here also was a main aim the oil issue. Especially the U.S.A. wanted a secure pipeline for the oil of the former Central Asia Soviet Republics. Perhaps they have to stay there for long times and even then it is not sure if itll be successful.

In Iraq it could be much more difficult. At first the whole region could go on the barricades. Secondly Iraq could break apart and last but not least it is question if the States could implement a stabile pro-western government.
And, please remember, that is the opinion from the media of the ruling capitalist class.
