Yesterday members of ETU-MB, Korean students from different universities, Korean anarchists and members from other trade unions held a rally in front of National Assembly, the South Korean Parliament.
They demanded the stop of crackdown and the legalization. The participants of the rally released one resolution:
“We migrant workers are working here like machines. We have no labor rights, no human rights not even we’ve a legal status, we are strongly demanding since last year. This time the whole society knows very well about our issue. But the government’s attitude is like deaf and dome. When our demand is legalize to all migrants who are just working for their families survive even though living far away from them. Then the govt. planning to deport all migrant workers, who are above 3 years overstaying, and pass the EPS for new-comers, what is nearly similar form of Industrial Trainee System.
Today we migrant workers gathered here to held protest rally to oppose EPS, achieve legalization for all undocumented workers, abolish trainee system and achieve working visa.
We are decline from today we’ll fight until our achievement.
We are also decline for fight against crack down. Until now we scared and runaway when immigration officers attack us in factories and living place. From today we will fight and protect ourselves. We are not criminals as they treat and hunt us. We are human beings we are migrants and above all else we are workers who have rights to live and rights to work, where ever we want.
If there’s no policy or system for migrant workers in South Korea, then make it.
We will never endure any more human hunting. From today we are not alone any more.
We migrants from different countries, Korean workers and students are united and we’ll fight until achieve.?
Before the rally some members of ETU-MB made a solidarity visit in the tent of hunger striking secretary of social workers trade union. Kim Yong-su is since 21 days in hunger strike, because the employers of the workers in social welfare facilities ? Seoul municipality and sub contractors - don’t recognize the founding of the trade union. Even in the South Korean labor law is written that the workers have the right to organize them self in trade unions mainly the employers try to ignore a new founded trade union. So it means mostly a tough struggle until the employers accept a trade union as a partner for negotiations.
