The United States is widening preparations for a war against the Middle East by moving staff heads from important combat units to Kuwait. The V. Army Corps, based in Heidelberg, Germany, and the First Expedition Corps of the Marines, headquartered in Pentleton, California, have both sent staff leaders.

In addition, thousands of U.S. soldiers are now stationed in Kuwait.

The V. Corps is the only army division that has its headquarterer outside of the U.S. Their combat units, among them the First Tank Division and the First Infantry Division, are particularly trained for combat in the Middle East. The V. Corps has over 41,000 soldiers available.

Staff leaders of the U.S. Middle Command, based in Tampa, Florida, would be responsible for the war against Iraq. They are planning to move their base of operations to a Quatar airport next month.
