Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid will arrive in Seoul today for a two-day state visit to discuss ways of enhancing friendly relations between the two countries.

President Wahid will hold a summit meeting with President Kim Dae-jung at Chong Wa Dae to exchange views on bilateral relations, the recent economic crisis in East Asia, the political situation in Northeast Asia and other issues of mutual concern.

Wahid, who is the first Indonesian president to visit Korea in 18 years, is also scheduled to meet economic leaders and visit Kia Motors Co.

The two countries are currently seeking to restart efforts to produce the ``Timor Car,'' a joint Korea-Indonesia automobile project which was suspended due to the financial troubles of the Korean car company, and the intervention of the World Trade Organization (WTO) which views the project as discriminatory.

Wahid's visit to Korea was earlier agreed to in Jakarta by former foreign affairs-trade minister Hong Soon-young and his Indonesian counterpart Alwi Shihab.
