(Seoul, Korea) - Government authorities rearrested Dan Byong-ho, president of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), the nation's largest labor umbrella organization, breaking their original promise to release their leader.
Immediately after Dan's prison sentence was prolonged, KCTU released a statement strongly condemning the government's decision.
KCTU announced that it will actively protest the government's suppression of labor and its leaders. "We will let the world know how the Kim Dae-jung administration has treated workers," a spokesperson said in a press conference. "This nation has not given us our liberty."
