Korea's top overseas aid agency plans to recruit more than 90 volunteers who will serve in 21 developing countries for two years.

A spokesman for the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) said yesterday that the deadline for applications is Feb. 16.

``It is a good chance for them to take part in the construction of a global village whose dwellers are well-off together and at the same time, train themselves as experts in each country where they are set to serve,'' he said.

The applicants should be aged from 20 to 40 and those who have technical skills and expertise will be given special consideration during the screening process, he said.

The agency will recruit additional applicants, aged from 40 to 61, in the latter half of this year, he said.

They should have some skills in at least one of the 17 sectors, including child education, taekwondo, the Korean language, nursery and public health.

Married people may apply for the posts, but they should leave their spouses home during their overseas service.

The successful applicants will serve in countries such as China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Egypt, Romania, Paraguay, Peru, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Fiji, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Cameroon, and Kazakhstan.

For more information, interested parties are advised to contact KOICA at 740-5177 or their Internet homepage (www.koica.or.kr).
