The Korean Teachers and Educational Workers Union will hold a mass outdoor rally at Daehangno Street in northeastern Seoul on Sunday afternoon.
The teachers will march from Daehangno to Myongdong Cathedral after the rally.
The union announced Friday that it will go on with the rally if the government refuses to accept its demands by Saturday. Core demands include scrapping the government's proposed educational program in which students will have freedom to choose what to learn based on their ability.
The teachers also call for the ouster of senior Education Ministry officials and plan to take a day off collectively to hold another protest rally. The union became legal in 1998 with the pledge that it will not resort to collective strike action.
