Government subsidies do not belong to nobody

Few people know that political party funds are from the tax of the people. Every year parties spend the tax under the name of government subsidy. The election subsidy is also given to parties at the election.

Originally, the "new military authorities" introduced the government subsidy system at 1981. Through this system, military authorities could control politicians. In other words, politicians who agreed with the authorities were allowed to conduct political activities and were given the tax of the people.

If the operation of parties is positive and politics is improved, there is no problem in spite of the incentive of this system. The problem is that subsidy, the tax of the people, is spent as parties like. Parties don't show the reasons for the expenditure. Consequently, the documentary evidence is poor.

In addition, parties don't achieve financial independence. Funds of the members of the party, the basis of the parties' finances, are under 5% of total revenue. On the other hand, the government subsidy is about 40 % of total revenue. In fact, parties that don't achieve financial independence rely on the subsidy.

The root of parties is the people. Spending the subsidy continually as they like, politicians should know the possibility of the people's resistance. Before the activities of abrogating government subsidy, politicians must reflect on the past and exert themselves to improve politics.

The PSPD Proposal. Politicians are alienated from people, and parties depend on the government subsidy and contributions. Reforming this situation, the political funds act should be changed like this.

1. The government subsidy should be distributed according to the number of votes polled.
1. Exceptions should be abrogated and penalty articles against illegal act should be reinforced.
1. Political fund report should be easily opened to the public by abrogating read-restriction and copy restriction articles.
