Women from the Philippines coming with the Korean Dream are increasing day by day. However, most of the Filipino women, hired by decisive brokers, being burdened with heavy debt, are forced to work as prostitutes and strip dancers. So, Filipinas increasingly escape from their original entertainment places deciding to be illegal stayers. We check the problem of Filipino girl servers at the 'US soldiers only clubs' mushrooming around the USA military bases.

Koreans Enter into US only clubs On the street before the 7th US Air Force base in Sinjang-dong, Pyongtaek City, Kyonggi Province, we met more foreigners than Koreans, and the dresses of women were also bold. A Filipino woman dressed in a one-piece dress outlining her whole body, wearing dark sunglasses, hugged a US oldier - looking young African tightly. Not only at the night clubs, but also all the sign boards of bars, billiard halls, Korean estaurants, music shops, and even the butcher shops were in English. After twilight, the place is changed into an amusement street where neon signs twinkle. Like a street of a foreign country, this street is crowded with clean cut US soldiers, foreign tourists, and Filipina-looking Asian women.

In a night club, following the music, 3 naked Filipino women danced sensuously on the stage to instigate the mood. About one hundred Koreans and foreigners in the hall danced with women servers or drank beers. It had about 20 foreign girl servers, and more half of them were Filipinas. It was said that now there were 12~13 Filipinas, the number is changed frequently. The rest were all Russians, and no other nationalities there.
After dancing, the Filipina women went to the tables and erformed in front of the customers. For spending the time with them, each dancer was offered drinks costing 10, 000 won by the customers.
At another foreigners only club nearby, which is especially popular among the US soldiers as it has many Filipino girls in
their teens, there are no restrictions for Koreans to enter, either. The women serve the visitors by sitting on their laps or get into some cubicles with the customers.
A Filipina working there for more than 5 months said, "We have somewh at special action in the booth." After midnight, all of the US soldier-looking visitors were gone because the military police checks from then. Some soldiers paid 300 dollars and brought
Filipino girl servers to nearby hotels.
Here in Sinjangdong, Pyongtaek City, only a few clubs refuse Koreans' entering, but generally they accept Koreans. Particularly, on Friday and weekend, they are crowded with Korean customers, a Filipino serving girl uttered.
"30 percent of them are Koreans on Friday, and 50 percent in the weekend."
It is same at the clubs at Tongduchon, having many foreigner - only clubs. A boss argued, "How can I block regular customers?" This phenomenon violates the purpose of establishing foreigners only sites which is supplied with tax-exempted beer for oreigners. Not only because the liquid price is cheap, but also because some of irregular service is offered here, more and more Seoulites go there.
But the concerned government repeatedly says that no Koreans go there. The foreigners only clubs boosting obscenity and amusement are now stated as another place for Koreans.

It is estimated that more than 2,000 Filipino women are working nationwide. 300 in Songtan and Pyongtaek, 150 in Uijongbu and Tongduchon, and more are in other areas such as Itaewon, Taegu, Pusan and Kunsan.. The high
percentage is because the hiring cost is low and the Philippines is an English- speaking country. English fluency is a good asset for the clubs where US soldiers are the regular customers. Hence, The Philippines is the favorite country for the bosses in contrast to other Asian countries or Russia where English is not spoken. Since one to two years ago, the recruiting brokers have been endeavoring to hire Filipino women.
