Hwasung Police office in Kyeonggi Province, inspecting the case of money demand, arrested 2 suspected people including a Chinese only known as Mr. Wang and got the confession of their crime.
The police said that the two threatened 3 Korean-chinese industrial trainees by a deadly weapon, extorting 5 million won and kidnapping them into their room by binding their hands with adhesive tape. They are also alleged to have received a deposit of about 14,600,000 won into their account opened at a bank in China by threatening their families on the phone.
They were tracked down by the police as the scene to withdraw money from their account through ATM (automated teller machine) was seen on CCTV.
Following the statement of the victim's family the person making threatening telephone call spoke Chinese, Police questioned Chinese stayers at the neighborhood near Nonghyup Bank and arrested them in Mr. Wang's room September 26.
The police confiscated 7 deadly weapons, 2 imitation rifles and 6 masks used at the crime and the victim's cellular phone. Hankyoreh 12/27
