Seoul To Host International Workers Congress

Workers From Poor Nations Will Converge in South Korea's Capital in Early November to Build International Solidarity Against Neoliberal Globalization

Neoliberal globalization has driven the people of Asia, Africa, and Latin America into a state of misery and crisis. Jobs have been destroyed, already-precarious employment has been further aggravated, public services, utilities, and enterprises have been privatized, and social welfare as a whole has shrunk.

While the gap between rich and poor widens, all workers, whether in the advanced industrial countries or in the Third World, suffer from threats to welfare, from the retreat from equality and democracy, and from the loss of civil rights. It seems as if there is no other future but more despair. But workers from the "South" are coming together in Seoul in early November to declare that ¡°another world, another future is possible." This diverse group of workers will build unity, consolidate strength, and exert power to resist the blood-thirsty neoliberal globalization. They will struggle together in the hopes of creating a more just and humane global society, unlike the one that is present today.
