The Amor Furniture Co. which is employing more than 100 undocumented migrant workers (located in Hwahyeon-myeon, Pocheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do) arouse criticism due to no pay their foreign employee's salary in time. The situation between the company and their foreign employees, threatens to become serious.

Migrant workers are unpaid their salary for Nov. to Dec. from their company, went on strike on Jan. 21, 2002 for their delayed salary as total amount is 300,000,000 won.

It is not first time that the company delayed their workers' salary. Last year, the company made their foreign employees strike due to delayed salary. At that time, the strike was concluded in two days after company's appointment to pay.

Amor Furniture Co. have been managed by over 100 migrant workers coming from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazahstan, Thailand, Philippine, Ghana and etc. except 10 Korean workers.

Migrant workers have received 750,000¡1,000,000 won per month for the sake of long-hour working till 1¡2 am.
After migrant workers' strike, the company tried to cut the electricity and water of worker's dormitory in spite of cold weather and said "Won't pay your salary, go out!. If you don't agree with me, I'll inform you to immigration and let you deport to your country."

Ignominiously, During confrontation, the company has continued to rebuild dormitory and factory buildings and to buy new machine in the amount of more than 130,000,000 won.

Besides, three of migrant workers got the accident to cut their fingers, couldn't be treated well far from receiving the compensation.

An Seong-geun, JCMK secretary general, "It is not yet a week that the government announced to control on company habitual delaying wage. Labor officer was passive in front of high-handed company managers and dispatched polices are pushing migrant workers striking." He had doubt government's willing to solve worker's problem.

Migrant workers of the company said that they will return to their work as soon as receiving their salary. However the company is avoiding to pay without acknowledge their mistake. JCMK member groups including Buchon Migrant Worker's House and official of the Euijeongbu Labor office are negotiating with the company.

It's really deplorable that bad company's voice is loud more than migrant workers' who insist their reasonable demand.
