The web site of a human rights group which undertakes the campaign against police violence has become the focus of protests and threats from police officers.

Citizens Solidarity for Human Rights (CSHR) has set October as a month of the campaign for the eradication of police violence, and has collected information about the relegated cases. The registration includes illegal road investigations, the abuse during the repression of manifestations, rights infringement by the rally and manifestation law, human rights abuse under custody and investigation. Then, recently the group's web site bulletin board is getting packed with severe criticism, insults and threats, most of which are allegedly made by police officers.

Protests push out appeal

Some posting on this web site (www.hrights.or.kr) are showing unregulated language abuse. One said "Fellow officers, remember the name of the committee members. Let's not take care of these people's security, even when they are robbed or their families destroyed.", the other "I am a Mr. burglar who is now enjoying my prosperity thanks to the CSHR's campaign," which makes the false impression that the campaign is for the illegal and criminal sections of the community.

Some police officers "instigated" in the posting in the National Police Agency Web site that "Let's put on protests to the page of CSHR who only protects 'robbers, burglars, murderers and Han Chong Yun." and urged "the decisive and resolute by members".

Cyber violence by the police?

One posting by ID of a police lover said "The campaign is for putting an end to human rights abuse by governmental authority, but these postings on the web are deteriorating and stabbing CSHR's intention. I think it's very unpleasant. The campaign is not against individual police officers, but they are overreacting as if CSHR wants to just provoke the police to quarrel with no reason, isn't it another case of cyber violence by the police?
