Note [ The Tokyo Court for War Crimes of Japan ]

After the Japanese surrender in September 2, 1945, the Tokyo Court of War Crimes of Japan was held by the Allied Powers from 1946 to 1949, sentencing about 920 Japanese to death and 3,000 more to penal servitude for crimes de guerre. However, only 7 first-rate war criminals who were imprisoned in Sugamo Prison were under given the death sentence. In addition, Aki Hito, Japan's Imperial Emperor, the one most responsible for all the atrocities--invasions, carnage, and colonial domination--was freed from all responsibilities and punishments under the strong auspices of USA. The USA were cautious of the ramifications and threats of the Socialist States in Northeast Asia, and needless to say, the amoral war crimes of the Japanese army such as liveexperimentations and sexual slavery, were diverted from inquiry in the Tokyo Court of War Crimes of Japan at that time.
