A released convict was reimprisoned for protesting against the pledge to abide by the law.
Support group for conscientious prisoners of Kwangu in Southern Chulla Province (headed by Se-moon Ki) announced that Kye-ho Song (age 30, policy maker for the Korean university organization) was arrested by the Yu-joo police while he was working in the pear farm with his friend. Song had been released on parole by special amnesty on Liberation Day in 1998 after he pledged to abide by the law. Then he participated in a sit-in strike at Myung-dong Cathedral for a month, demanding the abolishment of the pledge.

He was taken to the Soonchun police headquarters and after a brief interrogation, was confined in Soonchun prison. According to public peace division of the Prosecutors Office at Soonchun, the Ministry of Justice cancelled his parole and ordered the arrest in November 16th. This is because he took part in a sit-in strike against the pledge, even though he had pledged to abide by the law. No other charges have been made.

However, Lawyer Young-hwa Lim said, "According to criminal law, revocation of parole is limited only to those who are sentenced to confinement or to something exceeding that because of a crime or to those who violate the report duty. It is wrong to cancel the parole just because one participated in a strike against the pledge when no other crime has been committed."
