APC member in Australia consolidates its uniquely artistic approach to social equality and online awareness-raising with a merger and new sites
C2o (also known as APC.AU) has acquired Toy Satellite, an Australian based multidisciplinary communication/media production house. Toy Satellite has a long history of achievements in the arts and cultural sector, particularly its Web development, media streaming/netcasting and international collaborative initiatives.

Melbourne, AUSTRALIA -- C2o (also known as APC.AU) has acquired Toy Satellite, an Australian based multidisciplinary communication/media production house. Toy Satellite has a long history of achievements in the arts and cultural sector, particularly its Web development, media streaming/netcasting and international collaborative initiatives.
Given the close relationship the two organizations have enjoyed in the past, the acquisition is a natural forging of skills and resources. Toy Satellite will maintain its creative independence and will continue to develop cultural projects with organizations in the Asia region in closer collaboration with c2o.
Toy Satellite's new premises, from where c2o will also have its official home, will open in Melbourne on 5 February 2001.

New to c2o is the remarkable Rowville-Lysterfield History Project, an
archive of histories that would otherwise have been forgotten had they not been recorded, documented and archived as part of this Australian Federation Fund and Cinemedia supported project.
The Rowville-Lysterfield History Project was produced by Toy Satellite in collaboration with c2o. The site is built around a publishing engine which c2o plans to release into the public domain licensed under GNU.

-- The Women's Jail Project
This c2o-hosted Web "documentary" provides virtual audiences with excerpts from the turn of the 20th century records of the Sunbury Women's Refractory, a mental asylum for female convicts, in Victoria, Australia. The Women's Jail Project is a live performance depicting the "madness = badness" attitude and the appalling physical conditions Sunbury residents were exposed to.
