According to the Electronic Times on March 4th, the US government is now trying to legalize a passport that has biological information to prevent counterfeit passport after the 9-11 terrorist attack, and Korea is also planing to drive such project.
Biologically identifiable passport is said to improve the security and convenience by substituting the old system of photographic identification for the biological identification technology by digitalizing finger prints, ires and facial information into smart cards or bar codes when issuing passports and then be used at departure or arrival.
Korean companies are welcoming these businesses but they are concerned about the previous failure of the big businesses like electronic identification card or health insurance card and the reaction of the people towards Pass21 scandal.
